Vitex agnus-castus or Chaste Tree is a beautiful violet-blooming decidious shrub which can also be trimmed into a tree. Texans have recently started calling it Texas Lilac and is many times confused with a Butterfly Bush. It is drought/heat/deer tolerant which makes it extremely popular in Texas landscapes. The shrub can grow 15x15FT. The dried fruits and leaves can be used for medicinal purposes.
